Not only are we offering guided Spey trips on our Lake Erie Tributaries, Several Spey Classes will be offered by Will Turek and the SAO staff including, Spey schools and clinics, Basic and intermediate casting, tying Spey flies, steelhead schools, on the water demonstrations, and so much more!!!

All Spey classes will be held at Hidden Valley park on the Grand River.

Dates: July 26, Morning. Aug, 30 Morning, Oct 4 Morning
Spey 101, Introduction to Spey: Basic skill level of overhead and roll casting is required. Introduction to basic principles of Spey casting. Learn basic casting exercises and two Spey casts-Circle Spey and Double spey.Duration is 4 hours. Minimum 6 students, Max 8 students. 50% Deposit due
upon sign up. Cost per student, $100.


Dates: July 26, Afternoon. Aug 30 Afternoon, Oct 4 Afternoon:
Spey 105, Skagit Casting: Basic skill level of overhead and roll casting is required. Review basic Spey casting principles. Learn basic casting exercises and three Skagit Spey casts ­ Circle Spey and Circle Poke, Perry Poke, Double Spey and Skagit Double. Duration is 4 hours. Minimum 6 students, Max 8 students. 50% Deposit due upon sign up. Cost per student, $100.

Dates: Aug 2, Sept 6
Spey 201, Intermediate Spey: Spey 101 or 105 is a prerequisite for 201. Review basic Spey casting principles. Review Circle and Double Spey. Learn Switch cast, Single Spey and Snake Roll. Duration is 6 hours. 30 min break for lunch. Minimum 6 students, Max 8 students. 50% Deposit due upon sign up.Cost per student, $125.

Welcome to Jag Fly Co. & Steelhead Alley Outfitters!

Will Turek, born and raised in NE Ohio , and the newest member of SAO has been professionally employed in the Fly Fishing industry since for well over a decade. He spent 10 years on the West Coast spey fishing some of the most prestigous steelhead rivers in the country.

Will eventually moved back to his home waters on the Great Lakes to work as a fly fishing manufacturerʼs sales rep with Jerry Darkes at Angling Consulting Services. Will received his FFF Basic Casting Instructor Certification in 1998. He has 8 years experience teaching spey casting and fishing techniques and is currently working on his FFF Two Handed Casting Instructor certification.

He is particularly passionate about spey casting and swinging flies for steelhead in the Great Lakes region. Will is a frequent demonstrator and lecturer at numberous local area fly fishing clubs, fly shops, consumer shows, and spey claves.

He as appeared in The Steelhead Chronicles DVD by Jerry Darkes and in an episode of the Joe Thomasʼ Reel Life show on ESPN2. Will has contributed his spey knowledge and  fishing content to many websites, magizines, and local publications.
